Return to Running After Injury
A safe, structured plan to get back to running after injury. Week-by-week comeback guide with warning signs and progression rules.
Overview
Coming back from injury is one of the hardest things a runner faces — not because the running is hard, but because the patience required is brutal. Rush it and you'll end up injured again. Follow a structured return and you'll come back stronger.
Golden Rule: It's better to come back one week too late than one day too early.
Before You Start Running Again
| Checklist Item | Why |
|---|---|
| Pain-free in daily life | If walking hurts, you're not ready to run |
| Full range of motion | Can you squat, lunge, and hop without pain? |
| Cleared by a physio | If your injury was serious, get professional sign-off |
| Able to walk briskly for 30 min | If you can't walk comfortably, don't run |
| Mentally ready | Fear of re-injury is normal — acknowledge it, don't ignore it |
